Diane called the hotel again this morning and housekeeping had my shirts. We needed to send a prepaid box to the hotel and they would send my shirts to our house. Big relief for me. Now I just hope that the box is at our house when we get home.
We were invited to stay with our friends Toni and Charlie Gauthier in their house outside of Washington D.C. I have known Charlie and Toni for over 20 years. He was the former head of the School Bus Safety Program at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration among other duties. We met in the early 90’s at a school bus conference in California and I had the pleasure to work with Charlie throughout most of my career in the school bus industry. We recently ran into Toni and Charlie in San Diego at the 50th anniversary of the California Association of School Transportation Officials. I was telling them about our upcoming trip and they graciously offered us to stay with them if we came to Washington D.C.
Leaving Danville we basically followed the Susquehanna River most of the way, US Hwy 11 south to US Hwy 15 south to US Hwy 22 east to Interstate 81 south then east on State Hwy 50 to State Hwy 17 and into Marshall. The Gauthier’s live outside of Marshall in a beautiful, quiet and sparsely populated neighborhood.
We arrived at the Gauthier’s at about 3:30 pm and started catching up with each other. We had fun. Toni cooked a nice meal and Charlie brought out some nice wine. At about 10:30 pm we called it a night.
