Our last day in Bar Harbor and it was a nice one. Ever since we arrived in Bass Harbor it has seemed that Slinky has been a little rambunctious. We figure that she smells the ocean air and thinks that we are near home. Ooops wrong ocean. But the good news for Slinky is that we will be back at the right ocean in about 3 weeks.
We went out to Acadia National Park early as Diane wanted to get some shots of the fall colors there. I collected leaves and Diane took photos.
We went into Bar Harbor and drove the neighborhoods looking for fall colors. After the photo sessions we decided we needed breakfast and stopped by the Café that Way. It was very busy but we got a table in about 15 minutes. Food was good, our server was great, we had fun and bought a couple of t-shirts.
We spent the day wandering the Bar Harbor area as most tourists do. There were a couple of large cruise ships in the harbor so wandering was good people watching, but also a bit crowded. We stopped at 2 bars before dinner at The Blue Door. The first was The One-Off Pub where we had some nice beers from around the area. The next bar was Cottage Street Pub. The bartender was very good, he made us a great rye Manhattan and he was hilarious. He was having a fun time behind the bar. We met a couple from New Hampshire that come to Bar Harbor whenever they can. We would go back to Cottage Street Pub if we weren’t leaving the next day.
The Blue Door was fun again. We finished off our stay in Bar Harbor with the Cajun Style black bean and corn soup and Cajun style BBQ tofu. All in all Bar Harbor and the surrounding area was very fun.
