It had rained overnight but it was clearing when we woke up. Around 9:00 am we were leisurely drinking coffee and I was writing on the blog because we only had a 3 hour drive to our campground in New Hampshire when Diane noticed that we had to check out by 11:00 am. We put ourselves in high gear and had the E-Z up, tent and the rest of our gear packed up by 10:55 am. Generally packing up takes about 3 hours.
It was closing day for the Tree Corners Campground and when Diane checked us out the owner gave us a bottle of their homemade maple syrup. They have 2 businesses in the spring and summer they operate Tree Corners Campground and in the fall and winter months they make and sell maple syrup.
Diane has reserved a campsite at White Birches Campground in the White Mountains of New Hampshire near Shelburne. We started out east on State Hwy 58 to US Hwy 5 south down to St. Johnsbury then US Hwy 2 east into New Hampshire and Shelburne and the White Birches Campground. What a fantastic drive this was. The sun was out and the fall colors were vibrant. Diane couldn’t stop taking pictures until her arms got tired. Checkout her photos but remember all of our photos are only remembrance photos. Its way better live.
We were only staying one night here so we didn’t have to setup camp. So we decided to take a drive. We drove back to Gorham on US Hwy 2 and took scenic State Hwy 16 south through the White Mountain National Forest and Mt. Washington. Wow! Another very beautiful drive.
We found Sea Dog Brewery in North Conway on State Hwy 16 after we left the White Mountain National Forest. We sat at the bar and had some of their English brown ale, Gollywobbler. It was very good and a nice change from our usual IPA’s. There was New England Patriot’s football on the tv and most everyone in the building were cheering for them. We met some very nice and interesting people at the bar. We ordered some food and soon after that the fire alarm went off and we had to leave the building. We stood outside for about 15 minutes until the fire department declared it was safe to go back inside. Our food was delivered just like nothing happened. It was a fun afternoon. We drove back to our campground and called it an early night.
