September 29th

Today was all about Newport again.  We went to the local farmers market and bought some tomatoes and some homemade breads.  Then it was off to the Kingdom Brewery which was a little out of town.  The Kingdom Brewery was fun.  We had their double IPA and it was fantastic.

The food truck on the ground had Atomic Balls which were spicy mac & cheese rolled into balls, covered with bread crumbs and deep fried then drizzled with hot sauce and served with blue cheese salad dressing.  My mouth is watering as I write this.  We bought t-shirts and went back into town to find someplace to have dinner.

We had our eyes on Jasper’s Tavern but it smelled like smoke before we walked in the back door so we just walked through Jasper’s to get to Main Street.  Luck would have it that next to Jasper’s on Main Street is a Thai Restaurant.  We gave it a shot.  We were the second customers for them that night.  We heard that they were between chefs.  In fact the woman who took our order was the temporary chef.  They were also shorthanded with servers but we weren’t any hurry so we stayed.  It took a very long time to get our meals but it was very much worth the wait.  Dinner was fantastic.  We would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

It was back to the campground, after I got lost a bit.  We were only driving about 2 hours to New Hampshire in the morning so we weren’t in hurry to get to sleep and we called it quit about 10:00 pm.

I’m in awe of all the beautiful lakes and scenery that are east of the Mississippi! I guess maybe that makes up for the summer time humidity (the beauty is created from that humidity).
