On our way to New York City, about a 6 ½ hour trip. As we like to do we took the scenic route avoiding the interstate and tolls as much as we could. From Cranberry Lake we took State Hwy 3 east to Tupper Lake then State Hwy 30 south to Long Lake where we hooked up with State Hwy 28 south to Warrensburg and onto Interstate 87 south to Albany. Not too far south of Albany we got on US Hwy 9W south. This Hwy followed the Hudson River and took us through lots of quaint towns, beautiful landscapes and all the way into New Jersey and then we caught NJ State Hwy 3 west to the Red Roof Inn in Secacaus, NJ. This route was probably an hour longer than taking the interstate but it was way more fun.
After checking in and tending to all of Slinky’s needs we were off to Houlihan’s Grill and Pub. Houlihan’s is a chain but it was close and we were hungry. Then it was back to the hotel and get ready for New York City tomorrow.
