After working on the blog in the morning we decided to take a drive south toward Blue Mountain Lake. It was a nice drive and we encountered a number of lakes, big and small. After we left Tupper Lake we came upon a police roadblock. We stopped and were let through without any hassles but we noticed that it was an ICE roadblock. Here we are in the middle of the Adirondak Mountains in upstate New York and ICE is looking for illegals. Go figure.
Soon after passing through the roadblock we realized that Blue Mountain Lake is near where we will be camping in about two weeks so we reversed course and headed back to Big Tupper where there were two breweries. Going back through the roadblock was easy again. I wonder if they even recognized us from about 30 minutes ago.
We stopped at Big Tupper Brewery had a beer and some lunch and both were good. Big Tupper Brewery was nice but it seemed too sterile. The bartender was a great guy and the beers and food were good but not our style. Then it was off to Raquette River Brewery. This brewery was a little funky and it had a good vibe but besides the grumpy bartender we liked it and the beer was good. If we get a chance we would return to Raquette River Brewery. We bought a couple of t-shirts and we were on our way back to our Cranberry Lake campsite.
You’ve seen more lakes than I’ve ever thought existed….and lots of rain which is an unknown to us Californians…anxious for your reports from Manhattan…wonderful lake photos! BEAUTIFUL…
Wow! I think the pictures of Cranberry Lake are my new favorites! The early morning shots rock and the light on the lake is awesome. Slinky is having lots of adventures too! Dougie and Diane you are looking so great! Traveling certainly agrees with you! Have fun in NYC!
Great pics!!
I wonder if you’re getting weary of camping.
I would love to camp somewhere scenic, even this time of year.
It’s almost October.
The weather got warm, even hot, again here.
Hope it holds so my second crop of green beans will make.
