It was raining when we left our campsite to drive through downtown Toronto, we knew it would be slow going to Niagara Falls and it was. We arrived and parked on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls at about 11:30. The wind was blowing pretty hard and it was raining a bit as well.
We parked on the upstream part of the falls so we began taking the first of our one million photos up above the falls. The weather kept the crowds down so we were able to take some great photos but it was hard to keep the lens dry because the wind was swirling a bit and falls mist was blowing everywhere. We got soaked but we persevered.
We did some of the touristy things like go behind the falls, where we got soaked again and have lunch in the rotating part of the space needle. We had a fun time. Check out the photos.
From Niagara Falls we crossed back into the U.S. and drove to a Red Roof Inn in Buffalo. We found a brewery nearby, 12 Gates Brewery and had a couple of their delicious beers.
One of our favorite bands is Hazmat Modine, an eight piece blues/jazz band. Diane had researched the bands touring practices and all she could find was that they toured Europe during the summer and played in New York City occasionally. Before we left on this trip we looked up where they played in New York City. Last fall they played at Terra Blues in Greenwich Village every other Saturday in September and October. When we left on this trip Terra Blues had not released their calendar for September and we promised ourselves that we would continually check their website to see if Hazmat Modine was playing when we were on the east coast. But we forgot until we were at 12 gates. We looked it up and they were playing Saturday the 15th, 5 days away. Drop everything we were doing and let’s figure out how we make this happen.
We were excited on our way back to the Red Roof Inn and tomorrow while driving to Cranberry Lake we were going to figure out how we could see Hazmat Modine.
