After the stay in Sioux Narrows it was off to the US. We crossed the border at International Falls with no problems. Then it was off to Two Harbors on Lake Superior in Minnesota. We were on a nice 4 lane highway for about 30 miles after we left International Falls then our Google Map guide took us on back roads as we made our way to Lake Superior and Two Harbors. The back roads were fun as there wasn’t much traffic and we got to enjoy northeast Minnesota.
It was still a cloudy overcast day when we arrived at Burlington Bay Campground in Two Harbors in late afternoon. We had a nice campsite that over looked Lake Superior. Taking the short walk to the shoreline we could see Burlington Bay and Agate Bay, the two harbors.
We were tired and thirsty and took the short walk to town and the Castle Danger Brewery. Castle danger brews 6 or 7 beers year-round and 3-4 seasonal beers. We tried at least 4 different brews and all were delicious. It’s been totally amazing to us how many small towns have breweries that make great beer.
After enjoying Castle Danger’s beers we walked over to Black Woods Grill & Bar and had a delicious dinner. We had their Wild Rice Melt. House made wild rice patty blended with Asiago and panko and smothered with smoked Gouda cheese and sliced red onion. Set between cranberry wild rice bread and served with a side of cranberries. My mouth is watering as I write this. A wonderful evening in Two Harbors.
After we visit our friends in Minneapolis, MN and Sister Bay, WI and family in Dubuque, IA we will follow the Mississippi River back up to Lake Superior and around the Great Lakes in Canada. There just might be another stop in Two Harbors.
So far, no jackets in sight.
Must be warm there.
