Diane had made 2 nights reservation at a Motel 6 in Missoula. We wanted to see the town on our way to Glacier National Park and it was time to get the van its regular service. But sometime in the middle of last night I woke up remembering that my driver’s license expires on my birthday 8/31. During our years long planning for this trip we had mentioned that I need to renew prior to our departure. Unfortunately, we never remembered this when we made our multitude of lists of things we need or things we have to do. Bummer.
We decided to go to Missoula where I could get internet connection and try to renew my license online. This I did not know, you can renew your driver’s license online but only if you have not received 2 consecutive renewals by mail. Guess what? I have received my 2 previous renewals by mail.
Either Diane could drive for the last 2 months of the trip, September and October, or we could drive to the nearest CA DMV and renew my license.
We decided to go to California to renew my license and renew the van registration that is due to expire at the end of September. Alturas, CA here we come. We canceled our 2nd night at the Motel 6 and made reservations for Saturday night, put off the van’s regular service and went to Imagine Brewery to get ready for the trip. At the brewery, Diane made reservations at an RV Campground in Burns, Oregon for Thursday and Friday night. After a couple of beers we went to a wonderful Indian restaurant here in Missoula, Masala. We will try to get back there after our trip to California.
