We got up early and went to a Starbucks to update the blog. After getting the Slinkystravels.com up-to-date we were on our way to somewhere around McCall to camp for the night. It was still smoky as we leaving Lewiston and we were still traveling on the Lewis and Clark Trail but this time we were following the Clearwater River on State Hwy 13. This was a very beautiful drive as it skirted the Nez Perce Reservation. Near Grangeville we left the Clearwater River and the Lewis and Clark trail but soon we were following the Little Salmon River and another beautiful mountain drive but it was hazy and glary due to the smoke.
Just before we got to State Hwy 55 we crossed the 45th parallel, joining the ¼ of the earth between here and the equator. East on State Hwy 55 and over a pass we were in McCall. We were tired of the smoke and looked for a place to stay in McCall but we couldn’t find one and continued south looking for campgrounds. Near Donnelly we found the Willow Creek Campground. The campground was operated by senior volunteers from the area. Our campsite was on the edge of the campground and overlooked a marshy area of Lake Cascade.
Slinky is so funny.
Love the blog
