In the morning while having coffee we saw a pair of bald eagles out in the marshy area hunting something and then fly away with it. Ahh, Mother Nature. Fortified with coffee we were on our way towards Ketchum and the Sawtooth Mountains. We followed the Payette River to State Hwy 21 then the South Fork of the Payette and onto State Hwy 75 into the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. It was here that Diane and I decided that Idaho should get a do over. These mountains were majestic but we could barely see them do to the smoke in the area. We have been in smoke since arriving in Idaho.
On state Hwy 75 we found a campground just before we got to Ketchum. On the sign it said Easley Campground and Hot Spring. The campground was OK and cheap, $7.00 for us seniors. The hot spring turned out to be a cement pond and they had a bigger cement pond that you could swim in. Not what we were hoping for. The $7.00 campsite fee kept us from moving on.
Did you make Slinky hike with you??
Another aunt and favorite uncle lived in Ketchum. I visited them when I was 13. We went with our cousin to Sun Valley, then walked back to Ketchum.
I remember getting into trouble for that. It was a theme when we visited that cousin!
We went from Ketchum to up into the mountains where my uncles had a gold claim on a spot once mined by my maternal grandfather.
Idaho is in my blood!
