Our friend Olzy has had a tough last 16 months. Beginning in April of 2017 he has suffered from neuropathy. Then in May of 2017 doctors found that he had closed or nearly closed arteries in his right leg and near his heart. He had multiple surgeries to insert stints in to these arteries. He almost died during one of these surgeries. In addition he battled numerous infections. And eventually they amputated his right leg below the knee. Just this month he has been fitted for a prosthetic leg and he is getting adjusted to it. He has been driving his car now for about two weeks. He still has neuropathy but is taking medication for that. He is still somewhat limited as to what he can do but is on his way to living a somewhat normal life.
Olzy lives in Port Angeles, WA at the tip of the Olympic peninsula, a very beautiful place. He has a tiny house in the backyard of his sister, Reenie and her husband Ben’s house. Reenie is a cat lover. She has two beautiful Bengal cats. Slinky hates other cats so we kept her in our bedroom.
Our visit was fun. We watched sports, talked about sports, listened to music, played the ponies and laughed a lot just like we did when we were roommates in Morro Bay 35 years ago. The only thing different was that Reenie and Ben made some really good dinners. They should have been in Morro Bay 35 years ago too.
Wait! Isn’t that pic of Diane mislabeled? It looks like she’s holding Siren, or maybe Paddy.
I would never have recognized Chris, and, no, it’s not the prosthetic leg.
I hope you remembered to tell him about me still saying, “It’s the LONG one!!”
Port Angeles IS really beautiful!!
