After a wonderful weekend and fun memories we left the Brant’s around 9:30, did a bit of shopping and headed out Hwy 20 toward Clear Lake, our destination. Rand McNally marks Hwy 20 a scenic route and they didn’t lie. Beautiful mountain peaks off in the distance, the Mt. Washington Wilderness and Suttle Lake kept our attention for the 1 hr 45 min drive to Clear Lake and the Coldwater Cove Campground.
We found a nice campsite. Diane said this campsite is her favorite so far. After setting up camp we took a walk down to the lake. The lake is unbelievably colorful. There are old lava rivers that empty into the lake that help make the lake’s beautiful colors. We also learned that Clear Lake is the headwaters of the McKenzie River, there is a walk path around the lake and there are two big waterfalls an easy walk from our campsite.
Have you guys thought about a blow up boat or kayak?
It would be cool to explore the waters.
You’d need life jackets though…maybe too much stuff.
Just a thought!
Great pics!
