The morning drive going back to Oakridge along the South Fork of the McKenzie River (brrr) then over a little gap and then up the Right Fork of the Middle Fork of the Willamette to Hwy 58. We went east on Hwy 58 to another un-named scenic road that took us on the other side of the Three Sisters. We saw the snowcapped peaks of the Three Sisters occasionally on this very scenic road. We also saw a huge river of lava rocks, stopped by Lava Lake, Elk Lake and Sparks Lake, then it was around Mt. Bachelor and into Bend.
We arrived in Bend a little early so we found a laundromat and did a couple of loads of laundry. Once done with that chore it was down the street to Silver Moon Brewery, they brew a very good IPA, IPA 97. We had a couple of beers then it was off to Lauren, Robin and Nathan’s house.
Lauren, Robin and Nathan were entertaining Keri, Faun and their two sons, Kade and Jace. The three boys had a great time as did the six adults. There was ping-pong, a nice barbeque and plenty to eat and drink. Mucho fun. We have added the town of Leavenworth, WA to our list of scheduled stops. Keri and Faun used to live in the area and suggested the stop, so we will check it out.
