As I said yesterday there is a walk path around Clear Lake. It turned out to be a 5.12 mile walk and we took about 512 photos.
The lake is beautiful and natural! It is made mostly from a spring but also has creeks supplying snowmelt. I know that mixing blue and green together make a nice aqua or teal or turquoise. But this lake has blue/green colors that Crayola hasn’t come up with yet. AND the water is CRYSTAL CLEAR. I’m guessing the water visibility is 30-40 feet and maybe more in some areas. Boats are allowed on the lake but no motors.
Cold Water Cove Campground is a little north of Camp Water Cove so we started in that direction. The walk takes you through nice forests and over old lava rivers while never losing site of the lake. At Cold Water Cove we saw fish that were 24” to 30” swimming near shore. Next we were at the headwaters of the McKenzie River. It was mesmerizing watching that much water continually leave the lake. There is a resort that rents row boats where we walked out on their dock and could see the bottom 30 feet deep. The spring was spectacular in it’s own cove. I can’t even describe the color.
Hopefully, the pictures will tell the rest of the story.

Beautiful!
What was the temperature of Clear Lake? It’s got to be freezing I would imagine but (looks) so wonderful for swimming!!!
Don’t really know the temperature but it was cold. Not good for swimming. Coldwater Cove was our campground’s name. If it was a really hot day a quick dip might be possible.
I am so glad you two enjoyed seeing Clear Lake as much as I did! Actually you walked the whole path which I didn’t do so you saw more than me and I sure thank you for all 512 pictures.. the colors of that water and the clarity are so unbelievably breathtaking! Keep having fun♥️
