Guess where the 2 winos and a cat are headed? As we drove up Hwy 101 Diane was looking for campgrounds in Elkton or nearby. In Bandon we stopped at a creamery recommended by Bill and Dee and bought Peppercorn and Vampire Slayer cheeses and some crackers. I think you all know what the main ingredient is in the Vampire Slayer cheese. We also stopped at a Safeway coffee shop in Coos Bay to post on slinkystravels.com. It was a little too long to sit in a Safeway, but we completed our mission. At the Safeway coffee shop Diane had found The Elkton RV Park, on the Umpqua River and they had a spot for us. Yahoo! Coincidently, the RV Park was 3 blocks from the Brandborg Winery, no driving after tasting. Yahoo again.
Along the way from Reedsport to Elkton east on Hwy 38 Diane received a text from Bill Mingus. They had just passed us, heading west, after a trip to the Brandborg Winery. True fans.
It was about 3:30 when we checked into the Elkton RV Park. It was an overcast and cool day so we were able to leave Slinky in the car with food and water with all 4 windows cracked a bit. The winery closes at 5:00 so we scurried on over. We tasted 6 of their varietals, mostly different Pinot Noir’s. We bought 2 bottles of Pinot Noir and 1 bottle of white Pinot Noir and left the winery a little before 5:00. We stopped by the bakery across the street, again recommended by Bill and Dee, and bought some bread and scurried back to the RV Park where we settled in with some munchies and a bottle of Pinot Noir. After a little bit the wind picked up and it started getting cold so we moved the party indoors. Slinky liked that and the 3 of us partied into the night.
